History of Bampton LARC
Bampton LARC was created in 2016 after sourcing donations, fundraising and grants to develop the Old School in Bampton into a bright, comfortable community space to house the Library and provide a bright modern community space.
When the existing Devon Library in Bampton was going to close, Bampton Library and Resource Centre Supporters group was created and coordinated the fund raising as a registered charity (reg. no. 1163092).
Since its opening, Bampton LARC has been central in retaining the library service run by Libraries Unlimited within the Old School building.
Without the organisation and fundraising to create Bampton LARC, the library in Bampton would have closed in 2016; it is a valuable community asset.
As well as providing space and facilities for the library, Bampton LARC also offers a community space for other uses, such as regular drop-in sessions, various classes and a meeting space for community and private groups.
